Skunked

Shawntel woke me up last night and said she smelled something burning like plastic or electrical maybe. I walked around the house for a few minutes and definitely smelled something terrible so I did what anyone would do went back to bed. If I can remember right Shawntel asked if it was a good idea to go to bed since it smells like something is burning and I insisted that it was. When we woke up this morning it still smelled like burning electrical. The smell was strongest in Roxy's mouth. Of course, she must have eaten an electrical cord that was plugged in because when you eat electricity it always gives you bad breath right. Wrong Shawntel called me an idiot and suggested we check the back yard for clues. Sure enough we found a skunk at the base of a palm tree dead. I think Shawntel used to be a detective in another life. We heard Roxy barking at something last night so she must have witnessed the skunks dance of defiance and attacked. I've never smelled anything this strong and she's taken two baking soda peroxide baths and it hasn't phased the stench. Hopefully the third bath is the charm and I hope when Olivia is born my problem solving skills in the middle of the night are a little bit sharper.

Handyman...

I finally finished the floating shelves in Olivia's room. Shawntel worked so I googled floating shelves on Sunday and found plans that didn't seem to tough. I thought that I could have those knocked out before the 6:00 Playoff game and definitly before Shawntel gets home. No dice!!! Things were going well almost too well. The frames went together easy I put the door skins on piece of cake. The painting was the time crusher. I had to prime wait for them to dry(20 minutes) prime again(20 minutes) set up Tivo for the game(5minutes) first coat of paint(20 minutes) second coat. This time I was feeling the pressure of time bearing down on me and I just slapped those babies up wet. Not mention I thought that my idea for fastening them to the wall was better than the directions. So I did get them up before Shawntel got home but they were wet and they wouldn't support a magazine. Needless to say they failed inspection so Monday I made repairs(listened to directions) and gave them another coat of paint(waited for them to dry). Vuala!!! They turned out great. I love Tivo the Saints Vikings game was great hopefully the Super Bowl goes back and forth like that.

M&M's are so good

I'm just sitting here at work thinking what the hell am I going to do if Olivia comes early. This is a problem because I have prearranged being off for two months starting February 20th(the due date). If it were just vacation I could just jockey the days around but I exchanged days with people from other shifts and have already worked for them and the days off are set. I was thinking that due date meant that day. Shawntel has been telling me she doesn't think she'll make it to February. Is she just messing with me? I hope so but if she is it's not a very funny joke. I'm panicking. Come on February 20th fingers crossed.
Oh, by the way these M&M's are from our baby shower. They said Olivia Morgan on them. I'm not quite sure how many we took home but I've never eaten M&M's that fast and I didn't get a stomach ache. I even ate the ones in the picture after it was taken. What's up!!!!

UGE!!!!!

Everything went good at the Dr.'s Appt. yesterday. We asked our nurse if she could tell what position Olivia was in and she started pushing and squeezing on Shawntels stomach. She said her head was down facing Shawntel's right side. Then she felt her bottom up towards the top and she followed her legs down to her feet. It was really cool that she could feel all of that. I just watched I was scared to push as hard as she did on Shawntel's stomach.

After the Appt. we cruised over to Red Lobster for dinner. Yum Yum! We haven't been there in a long time man it was so good. The cheddar biscuits stole the show. The lobster was good but, the biscuits were awesome. I think that's why the lobsters in the tank up front looked so sad, they know that the biscuits are better than they are. They're actually ready to get steamed because they're so depressed.

"Uge" was the word of the night in our child birthing class last night. Like my mother our teacher is from Minnesota. My Mom has never used this word before so I don't think it's a Minnesota thing. Here it is in context.

  • Wow look at that "UGE" hot air balloon I've never seen one that big.

  • My uterus feels as "UGE" as a hot air balloon.

Class was two hours long and she must have said "UGE" thirty times. It's huge not uge. The next class we get a tour of the hospital and we're sure there will be plenty of opportunity to say uge. I hope she's ready because we are.

The Final Countdown

Today we have 32 days to go until we reach our due date(Feb. 20). WOW!!! It's coming quick. We don't have that much left to do to Olivia's bedroom, if you talk to me. According to Shawntel we're no where near being done and she has been moving like Magda(There's something about Mary). I thought that the nesting thing was just a bunch of lip service, nope it's real.
We have a Dr.'s Appointment tomarrow and I hope the Dr. is ready because alot has changed since the last time we saw her. The baby seems to have dropped quite a bit, lots more pressure for Shawntel, she is feeling Braxton Hicks contractions everyday and the list goes on.
I was laying awake this morning feeling Shawntel's stomach and I've never felt Olivia this mobile. She was all over the place. There is not much room in there and she using every square inch. I think she's working on her Cirque de Sole audition.

1st Blog

Olivia Morgan is due February 20, 2010

So far my pregnancy has been wonderful. Now that we are almost there, the anxiousness of her arrival is getting more and more intense.

Last Saturday we had a Ba-By-Que party thrown for us by my Mom and Becky. It was so beautiful and such a fun party. It was everything I was hoping for and much much more. We had a great turn out of friends and family. Thank you to everyone for making that such a special day for us!

We started childbirthing classes last week and have another class tonight. There is so much to learn and so little time left. I am soooo thankful that Jonathan will be off a few months with me to get adjusted to parenthood.
